No data protection officer has been appointed, as there is no legal obligation to do so.

Visiting this website

When you visit these pages, the web server automatically processes the following data: IP address, date and time, requested URL, HTTP status code, amount of data transferred, referrer and user agent (browser and operating system). It is stored in the web server's access and error logs.

Purpose: delivering the website, keeping it secure and stable, and detecting and fending off abuse and attacks.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. My legitimate interest lies in the purposes above.
Retention: the logs are rotated daily and deleted automatically after 15 days at the latest.
Provision: providing this data is not required by law or contract, but it is technically necessary to display the website. Without it the website cannot be accessed.

The connection is encrypted with TLS (HTTPS). This website sets no cookies, uses no analytics or tracking services and embeds no third-party content (fonts, scripts, maps or similar).

Contact by email

If you email me, I process your email address, your name (if given), the content of your message and the technical connection data of the sending mail server.

Purpose: replying to your enquiry, and protecting against spam and malware by automatically checking incoming messages.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where your enquiry concerns a contract or steps prior to one, otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. My legitimate interest lies in answering your enquiry and in operating the mail servers securely.
Retention: the message is deleted once your enquiry has been dealt with, unless statutory retention obligations apply.
Provision: contacting me is voluntary. Without an email address I cannot reply.

Recipients and third countries

The website and the mail servers are operated by me. Your data is not passed on to third parties, no processors are used, and no data is transferred to third countries or international organisations.

Links to external services (e.g. LinkedIn) are plain links. Data is only transferred to the respective provider once you click such a link; their privacy policy applies from then on.

Automated decision-making

No automated decision-making, including profiling within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR, takes place.

Your rights

You have the following rights regarding your data:

Where I process your data on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, you may object to this processing at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation. I will then no longer process the data unless I can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing serves the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.

Right to lodge a complaint

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR). The competent authority is the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of North Rhine-Westphalia (LDI NRW).
